Clean air is a treat in northern Nevada this time of year, with mainly clean air being reported this summer season so far.

We did see some days in the middle of July with poor air quality because of fires in northern California and Oregon, but lately the air has been clean.

That is not the case for the Midwest or northeast lately. Chicago even saw unhealthy air quality on July 31.

Fires in Canada are bringing smoke and haze to areas downwind, like New York City and Chicago. The upper level pattern is out of the northwest, which is favorable for smoke to move into the United States.

Reno did see some smoke and haze around July 14, from fires in northern California and Oregon, but the majority of the summer has been nice.
