ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. —

A new Head Start preschool has opened its doors in Elizabethtown, providing an affordable early childhood education option for families in the area.

Designed to address the lack of accessible child care, the facility will serve 64 preschoolers and offer a range of services, including speech and occupational therapy, as well as free meals.

The new facility is part of the Central Kentucky Community Action Council, an organization with a long history of serving families across the region. According to the Council’s executive director, Brian Conover, this initiative couldn't have come at a better time for Hardin County.

"There's really only private childcare. Or if your child is eligible for public school, but there aren’t that many options," Conover said.
