SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Scarborough police arrested an Oakland man who reportedly stole two cars, one of which he allegedly crashed, then attempted to steal a third vehicle before running on foot Friday, according to a news release from police.
At around 12:29 p.m., police received reports that a car had been stolen from Cumberland Farms on Payne Road, which was then abandoned at Pet Quarters. While responding, officers then learned 40-year-old Paul Garland allegedly stole another car that was then crashed next door in the Michael's parking lot.
Police said Garland fled on foot before reportedly trying to steal another car at a construction site near Sebago Brewing Company. Officers found Garland inside the vehicle, who then took off on foot again, according to police.
