BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bryan Bedford is the new head of the Federal Aviation Administration.
He asked to meeting the Flight 3407 families face-to -face as he recognizes the group as an aviation safety stakeholder.
The families opposed his confirmation because when Bedford was CEO of Republic Airlines, he criticized a key portion of the aviation safety law, specifically the part calling for commercial pilots to have 1,500 hours of flight time before flying a passenger aircraft.
"We want those things to stay in place because we've not had an accident here in the United States, the result of pilot inexperience since that time. Yes, we've had an incident here at DCA this January, but by all indications, it doesn't have anything to do with the regional airline or major airline system," said Scott
