STATEWIDE -- The Maine Department of Public Safety launched a pilot program intended to address the rise in complex crimes targeting older adults.

The Elder Justice Investigator will provide case mentorship, offer training and education to frontline responders, promote a multidisciplinary approach to elder abuse cases, collect and analyze data and trends of elder crimes, and support statewide efforts to expand the hub and spoke model for elder crime investigations.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Kennebunk Police Officer Candice Simeoni has been selected to serve in this new role.

The program is expected to span two years and will end in September of 2026.
