BANGOR -- A local health care organization's program has received national accreditation.
Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) announced that its Nurse Practitioner Residency Program has been awarded a full three-year accreditation by the Consortium for Advanced Practice Providers.
With the residency program meeting all eight national accreditation standards, PCHC says the accreditation went into effect on July 10.
"It's a big deal that this program is accredited," said Page Miller, a Nurse Practitioner Resident at PCHC. "There's only a handful of accredited nurse practitioner residencies in the country and there are quite a few residencies."
PCHC says the program will remain in continuous review, and will complete a renewal process in 2028.
