An odd find on top of one of Colorado's most notorious mountain peaks has been getting quite a bit of attention online.

Originally posted in the 'What is it?' subReddit , photos capture a rock with peculiar markings on it that a climber claims to have found on top of 14,131-foot Capitol Peak near Aspen. The post has since gotten more than 30,000 'upvotes,' also accumulating more than 4,000 comments with many of those comments being people speculating what it might be.

As people chimed in, various theories were posed, with the leading one being that the lack of erosion on the markings indicated it was a recent carving. While it might have an alien look to it, it sounds like any sort of extraterrstial origin is unlikely. More likely than not, it's a prank.
