The Nevada National Guard will work with federal agents on immigration efforts, the governor’s office and the Guard confirmed Friday evening.
“Gov. Lombardo is in the process of authorizing the Nevada National Guard to assist Immigrations and Customs Enforcement in a temporary, administrative capacity,” spokesperson Elizabeth Ray said.
The deployment will be fully federally funded and take place within Nevada.
“We’re planning how we can fulfill this federal request,” said public affairs officer Capt. Emerson Marcus with the Nevada National Guard.
“We met with Homeland Security this week about what it’ll look like and how we can assist at detention facilities in Nevada.”
