DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau) -- U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego, an Arizona Democrat, toured the Iowa State Fair -- a frequent historical stop for future presidential candidates -- and explained where his party has gone wrong in recent years.

Gallego said that Democrats deserve credit for helping Americans survive the COVID-19 pandemic when they took over control of the White House and both chambers of Congress in 2021.

But he said that Democrats too often failed at realizing how much inflation was hurting families.

Gallego toured the Iowa State Fair Friday morning after meeting with Polk County Democrats Thursday night and visiting the JBS meatpacking plant in Marshalltown earlier Friday morning.
