The City Council Friday requested staff to identify funding for the restoration of a mobile shower program for unhoused residents.
In a unanimous vote, council members instructed the City Administrative Officer, sanitation department and Board of Public Works to identify $5.7million for the Mobile Hygiene Centers Program. Dollars for the initiative were reduced during the 2025-26 budget process and allocated for street encampment cleanups known as Comprehensive Cleaning and Rapid Engagement, or Care+ program.
