The McDonald's would be built off the busy Lane End in Kirkby-in-Ashfield

McDonald's may have to stump up £100,000 for a pedestrian crossing linking its first proposed outlet in a Nottinghamshire town with a busy Aldi over the road. The wait continues for a final decision on Kirkby-in-Ashfield's first McDonald's as the company has been told to consider how firms like Deliveroo could impact local traffic.

The restaurant chain requested a withdrawal of its original plans in October 2024 and, although a decision was due to be made on the fresh plans by March 2025, concerns from Nottinghamshire's highways department remain. The restaurant would be based on land off Lane End right opposite a busy Aldi supermarket.
