ST. LOUIS - Eight days after Tyieshia McDowell, 47, was fatally shot outside a North St. Louis gas station, her family is preparing to lay her to rest.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) continues their search for her killer as the community voices concerns over local violence.

The incident occurred on the night of July 31 at the Conoco gas station located at 5750 Natural Bridge.

Police found McDowell in a vehicle, unconscious and not breathing, with a gunshot wound to the head. She succumbed to her injuries days later.

Residents have expressed their fears about crime in the area, with many choosing to shop outside their neighborhood even before the shooting.
