While it seems as if summer weather has just hit San Francisco, many of The City’s students will return to school within the next couple of weeks.

The St. Anthony Foundation, the Tenderloin nonprofit that opened its 10th annual Back-to-School Drive of backpacks, books, clothing and other supplies on Thursday and continues Friday, aims to ensure hundreds of those students are fully prepared when classes begin.

“Having a first-day-of-school outfit, to be able to give that is kind of an extra for us, an extra for our families,” said Sam Brock, the senior manager of hygiene services — which includes the free-clothing program — at St. Anthony’s. “It's a nice opportunity for people to choose what they want.”
