SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s attorney general is joining a bipartisan multi-state effort to crack down on illegal robocalls. In all, 51 attorneys general are tackling the issue.

According to the Utah attorney general’s office, 37 companies are not in compliance with several FCC rules, including:

The Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force has sent letters to telecom companies demanding that they stop routing illegal robocalls through their networks.

The task force was created in 2022 to “take legal action against companies responsible for significant volumes of illegal and fraudulent robocall traffic routed into and across the United States,” according to its website.

It is charged with reviewing call traffic information given to the task force by the telecom industry as well as law enforcement
