ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Since the NMAA introduced eight-man football in 2006, Melrose has won the state championship ten times. No other school comes close to that mark, and the Buffaloes dynasty is heating up once again.
Melrose is currently riding a 24 game win-streak and back-to-back state titles. The team lost nine seniors, but the Buffaloes the winning culture remains in tact.
"Tradition doesn't block and tackle," said head coach Drew Hatley. "We still have to go to work on those things and continue to develop, but yes the standard is a championship over here at all times."
