Mishawaka, Ind. (WNDU) - On Friday people in Mishawaka attended a special bridge and stage opening celebration at the Res Nature Preserve.

This free event marked the official unveiling of two exciting new additions to the Res: a custom-built performance stage and a scenic pedestrian bridge.

Members of the local marine reserve combat battalion built the bridge.

They’re hoping this represents a message of unity between youth leadership and military service.

“This project was done so that we could build something substantial that would last for a long time. Many of the structures on the Res are aging out and we wanted a bridge that would last, have a foundational support that would last 100 years and so we have this nice well-built and secure with access to the back of our property.
