MIDDLETON, Wis. (WMTV) - Saturday morning, Middleton firefighters will get up to bat against the Middleton Police Department in the city’s annual Battle of the Badges fundraiser event.

The friendly competition softball game raises money and awareness about local families affected by childhood diseases and cancers. The coin toss will start at 9:55 a.m. on Saturday at Firefighters Memorial Park.

This year, first responders are supporting 2-year-old Lenny Kossack , of Cross Plains. In January, Lenny was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that primarily affects young children.

The Kossack family is working with the UW oncology team and teams at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) in New York City for her treatment. In June, Lenny had surgery to remove the larg
