After being held to one baserunner through the first five innings, the Yankees tied it with a sixth-inning rally and ultimately sent the game to the 10th inning. Devin Williams, called upon in a big spot despite his recent struggles, then squandered any chance the Yankees had.
Williams, who entered to boos before throwing a pitch, surrendered three runs — including Taylor Trammell’s two-out, two-run homer — in the Yankees’ 5-3 loss in front of 46,027.
Williams has allowed nine runs, seven hits (including three homers) and four walks in 4 2⁄3 innings in his last five games. He is 0-2 with two blown saves in that span and has given up at
