JONESBORO — On Monday, Aug. 4, the city of Jonesboro celebrated another milestone in civic engagement and youth leadership as the third installment of the Jonesboro Youth City Government was officially sworn in.

The ceremony, held during a Jonesboro City Council work session at the Jonesboro City Center.

Jonesboro City Council member Alfred Dixon, outgoing Youth Mayor Daniela Avitia and outgoing Youth Mayor Pro Tem Isaac Hathaway led the ceremony.

Avitia will be going to Clayton State University while Hathaway will be attending Albany State University in the fall.

Chief Magistrate Court Chief Judge Keisha Wright Hill sworn in the new members.

The new members include:

— Youth Mayor Zahion Mikell, of Mt. Zion High School.

— Rylyn Allen, of Mt. Zion High School.
