DOUBLE OAK, Texas — A request for a special use permit to build a helistop in the quiet town of Double Oak has been officially denied by the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission. The decision comes after a contentious meeting, emotional testimonies, and heated debate over noise, property rights, and community values.
The Planning and Zoning Commission for Double Oak had three applications to decide pertaining to the property. It denied the building of a helistop and subdividing the 15-acre parcel into five parts because of discrepancies in the sizing of the land. It also approved changing the zoning for that land.
