The Detroit Lions’ second preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons ended in one of the more unprecedented moments you’re likely to see in the NFL .
With the Lions leading 17-10 early in the fourth quarter, Lions defensive back Morice Norris went down, injured after taking a knee to the side of his head while trying to make a diving tackle.
Things quickly turned serious as Norris was barely moving and an ambulance was called onto the field for him. After Norris left the field in the ambulance, rather than start playing — in a powerful moment — the players formed a circle with hands held and heads bowed.
The clock began running but play did not resume and the game was eventually suspended by the league.
While the Lions and the NFL community await more information on Norris’ status
