Last season, Franz Wagner had a well-rounded campaign, as he emerged as the clear second option for the Orlando Magic. For the first time in his career, he averaged at least 20 points. In his 60-game appearance, the German forward averaged 24.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists on 46.3% shooting.
In the playoffs, he played better, supporting his All-Star teammate Paolo Banchero. Wagner put up 25.8 points , 4.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists through five games. Although the Magic was eliminated in the opening round by the Boston Celtics, it was a clear indication that the 23-year-old can be a star in the NBA.
