Solar project hearing to resume Monday
The spooling saga of whether Santa Fe County should permit a big and contentious solar and battery energy facility south of the city is set to continue this week.
County commissioners will hear on Monday and Tuesday an appeal of the decision by the county Planning Commission to approve a conditional use permit that would allow a sprawling and controversial energy facility, known as Rancho Viejo Solar, to be constructed near Eldorado about three miles south of Santa Fe — an event that promises to draw over 100 people to the commission chambers and fuel hours of testimony.
As those urging for the green light to move forward cite how the project could generate sufficient power to carry the entire residential load of Santa Fe, it is uncharted territory
