SAN DIEGO (FOX5/KUSI) — While typically a tradition reserved for student-athletes, incoming kindergarten students were able to kick off the school year with a “signing day” on Friday.

Parents, families and incoming Toler Elementary School students were able to tour the campus, meet teachers and have a photo opportunity in front of a school banner. Students were also able to sign a certificate that read “our newest dolphin,” the school’s mascot.

“This is our first ever Toler signing day for our new dolphins to join our team,” New Toler Elementary Principal Kristy Campisi said. “Toler is just an incredibly special place to be, and we want to make sure that everyone gets to be welcomed.”
