Some don’t believe Dr. Luay Sayed when he tells them about his patient, Paul Ivan, 100, of Algonac, who not only underwent a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure in January but by July was back to doing daily pushups.

“I was talking about how people laugh at me when I tell the story and he just looked at me, dropped to the floor and started doing pushups,” said Sayed, an interventional cardiologist at Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital Troy, recalling Ivan’s demonstration at Corewell Health Heart and Vascular Clinic in Sterling Heights .
