The Patriotic Alternative protestors in Newark holding banners

Crowds are expected to clash in a Nottinghamshire town as a new protest against asylum seekers is due to take place. Counter protestors from the Notts Stand Up to Racism activist group are opposing a protest organised by Patriotic Alternative on Saturday in Newark (August 9).

The Patriotic Alternative 'peaceful' public demonstration is expected to begin at 1pm outside Newark and Sherwood District Council's offices in Great North Road. The protest opposes asylum seekers entering the UK. The group was launched in 2019 by Mark Collett, a former leading member of the British National Party (BNP).
