Coronation Street has bid farewell to one of its stars, Frank Grimes, who has passed away at the age of 78.

The actor's death came after a short illness, with The Irish Cultural Centre honouring the acting legend.

Frank was known for his role as Barrington "Barry" Connor in the ITV soap, appearing sporadically from 2008 to 2015 and portraying the father of Paul Connor, Liam Connor, and Michelle Connor.

Barry even returned in 2015 to be part of Michelle's wedding to Steve McDonald.

Over the years, he featured in more than 50 episodes and became an integral part of the Connor family storyline.
