MINNEAPOLIS — Residents of two apartment buildings in the Ventura Village neighborhood have been displaced following a 3-alarm fire early Saturday morning.

According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the 600 block of 18th Street South just before 5 a.m. At the building, responders found heavy smoke and fire in the walls and ceiling of the fourth floor, requiring extra fire crews to be called in to assist.

The fire department stated that the fire spread to the attic space and roof of an adjoining apartment building.

Two residents were medically evaluated at the scene, with one person transported to the hospital due to a pre-existing medical condition, the fire department stated.
