Frank Lampard felt his Coventry City players should have beaten last season’s strugglers Hull when the two teams got their Championship campaigns off to a goalless draw at the CBS Arena.

The Sky Blues wanted to start the new season as they’d finished the last, enjoying play-off form while going up against a Tigers side who escaped relegation by goal difference on the final day in May.

But despite friends ringing and telling him he was in for an easy start, the head coach knew his side were in for a difficult game against a team that looked set up for a solid point on the road.
