A person was reportedly sexually assaulted while jogging on a trail near a park in New Haven on Saturday morning and a suspect is being sought.

Officers received a report that someone had been sexually assaulted while jogging on a trail south of Fort Hale Dog Park on Townsend Avenue between 7:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.

According to police, the victim of this incident described the alleged suspect as a man who is 5-foot-6-inches to 5-foot-7-inches tall with a medium build. He is reportedly in his late 30s to early 40s with dark brown/black cropped hair, a short beard and a possible rash around his mouth.

The man is believed to have been wearing a blue patterned polo shirt, gray work pants and brown dress shoes.
