Waterford — Though Henry Ford is known by many as the man who put America on wheels, one of his more obscure hobbies took flight Saturday afternoon.

"It's not only a visiting museum, but it's one that you can actually take a ride in," said its pilot, Ed Kornfield.

At the Oakland County International Airport on Saturday, the small but mighty Ford Tri-motor took to the skies as a part of the airport's "Festival of Flight" opening to the public on Sunday.

Nicknamed the "Tin Goose," the plane is an all-metal, multi-engine design first completed by the Ford Airport in Dearborn on Nov. 1, 1925, making it almost exactly 100 years old.

Saturday's Tri-motor was the eighth ever made and owned by the Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton, Ohio. Organizers said it was brought to give a glimpse
