BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. —

The Boiling Springs High School football team had its first winning season since 2020 last year, but the Bulldogs lost to Dutch Fork in the playoffs for the second year in a row. As head coach Matt Reel enters his fourth year leading the program, his biggest goal for his team is helping them find ways to beat elite teams.

"I think that is going to be what we have to build on each week, get a little better," Reel said. "We don't want to play our best football in August. It has to be a tier progression that we are playing our best football when we get to our region, all the way through region and into the playoffs. That's the goal, and we're going to keep hitting the hammer every day and going to work."
