As New Hampshire’s state epidemiologist, Dr. Benjamin Chan was thrust into the spotlight during the COVID-19 pandemic as he appeared regularly at public health briefings hosted by then-Gov. Chris Sununu to keep Granite Staters updated on the constantly evolving global health emergency. While that role has faded from many people’s minds since the pandemic was officially declared over, Chan’s work continues. That ranges from responding to measles outbreaks to preparing for the annual flu season to encouraging residents to stay safe during tick and mosquito season.
