NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a double shooting early Sunday that left one woman dead and another injured in the city’s 6th District.

Police said the shooting happened in the 2600 block Jackson Ave. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The other woman was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

According to NOPD, the call was received at 12:01 a.m. and confirmed at 12:09 a.m.

No further information was immediately available.
