A toddler was injured after being struck by a motor vehicle at Belmont Lake State Park in North Babylon on Sunday afternoon, New York State Parks officials said.

The child, identified only as a 2-year-old, was struck while in the north parking area of the park at 2:46 p.m., according to a parks department statement.

The child was transported by North Babylon Fire Department ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The fire department did not immediately respond to a request for additional details.

Park police were coordinating with state police in the ongoing investigation, parks officials said.
