SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. — Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said a three-year-old is recovering at the hospital after the driver was arrested on a DUI charge for driving a car into a lake in Spalding County.

GSP officials said on Sunday, Nafeeza Samad, 23, of Dallas, Ga., was speeding, traveling west on Dundee Lake Road, when her Acura entered the Dundee Lake parking lot. Once in the parking lot, officials said Samad continued speeding, hitting large boulders used as traffic barriers. The vehicle then vaulted into a grassy area and traveled into Dundee Lake.

As the vehicle went under the water, Samad climbed out and stood on top, leaving the 3-year-old trapped inside the vehicle, immersed in water, officials said.
