A nosey police officer with a 'thirst for knowledge' searched confidential crime logs about his own relatives.
PC Khan 'deliberately' scoured systems for information over 'close family matters' after police got involved.
He 'knew the rules' but was 'motivated by personal gain' and accessed confidential data which had 'nothing to do with him' just because he just wanted to 'know more'.
Khan was found to have breached policing standards of professional behaviour, with a panel finding that his actions amounted to gross misconduct.
He would have been dismissed had he still been working for West Midlands Police , an accelerated misconduct hearing found.
