(TNS) The National Hurricane Center on Sunday said a system in the eastern Atlantic could become a tropical depression soon while continuing to keep tabs on one other Atlantic system.
As of the NHC’s 2 p.m. tropical outlook, the system dubbed Invest 97 continued to show signs of organization with expanded showers and thunderstorms as it was about 100 miles east of the Cape Verde Islands.
“Only a small increase in the organization could lead to the formation of a tropical depression before the low moves near or across the Cape Verde Islands Sunday night and on Monday,” forecasters said. “Even if a tropical depression does not form over the next day or so, environmental conditions appear very conducive for later development, and a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form by
