With the UK experiencing record-breaking temperatures and some European holiday spots reaching over 40°C this summer, nursery brand Ickle Bubba has warned pram seat temperatures in hot weather have been shown to reach up to 55°C, hotter than a sauna, in as little as 15 minutes.

A study explored how different pram covers affect internal pram temperatures, revealing just how quickly heat can build up inside. In controlled outdoor conditions, an uncovered pram, with the hood not open and exposed to direct sunlight, recorded a maximum seat temperature of 55.8°C, a level reached in just 15 minutes. The temperature inside this pram was over 25°C higher than the baseline outdoor temperature of 30.3°C.
