Barclays has explained its security policies for customers using Apple Wallet. The update came after a customer asked about an apparent lack of security checks for the service.

Apple device users can open up the Wallet app to register their credit and debit cards, enabling payments via iPhones, Apple Watches or other devices. A Barclays customer reached out to the bank as they had registered their bank card with Apple Wallet.

They were alarmed that it hadn't prompted them for a verification method, like a text message or phone call. The concerned customer queried: "Normally it would ask. Is this really secure?"
