A group of pupils swapped the classroom for hard hats as they explored one of the region’s most recognisable landmarks from a whole new angle.

Eleven students from All Saints Academy Plymouth took part in the annual Engineering Her Future event at the Tamar Bridge to mark International Women in Engineering Day.

Organised by the Women’s Engineering Society, the day champions the work of women engineers around the world. Locally, YMCA Plymouth runs the event in partnership with schools, using the Tamar Bridge visitor centre as a base to showcase science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) careers.
