Boston Mayor Michelle Wu declared a heat emergency from Aug. 11 through Aug. 13, with temperatures soaring into the 90s.

With heat indices forecasted to range from 95 degrees to 96 degrees Fahrenheit, Wu said in a statement, residents should take precautions to stay cool and safe.

Other communities across Massachusetts are expected to feel the high heat, as well, according to the National Weather Service .

"Stay well-hydrated, seek out air-conditioned environments when possible, and check in on elderly family members or neighbors who may need assistance," said Adrian Jordan, Boston's chief of emergency preparedness.
