A cyclist has been hospitalised with a head injury following a serious crash on a rural Devon road, and police are now appealing for witnesses to determine if another vehicle was involved.

The incident occurred in Highampton, with police stating it took place around 11.30am on Saturday (August 9) on an unclassified road between the village and Hatherleigh. The injured cyclist is still receiving treatment in hospital, reports DevonLive .

Devon and Cornwall Police have issued an appeal for information regarding the incident: "We are appealing for witnesses and footage following a serious road traffic collision involving a bicycle in the Highampton area of Devon.

"The incident took place at around 11.30am on Saturday 9 August on an unclassified road between Highampton and Hatherleigh.
