LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Lansing mayor Andy Schor, along with state lawmakers, climate experts, and people impacted, are holding a news conference to spotlight the toll they say climate change-fueled extreme weather is having on Michigan.
The group says the May 2025 tornado outbreak that led to widespread damage and a state of emergency declaration highlights how climate change is fueling stronger, more frequent storms across the region, and how recent rollbacks of clean energy investments, weakening of federal agencies like FEMA and NOAA, threaten Michigan`s ability to prepare for and recover from future disasters.
The event is part of the national extreme weather emergency tour.
