Bridge Detroit reports that 72 percent of the donors in the mayoral primary race live outside Detroit, including actor Samuel L. Jackson, who donated $5,000 to City Council President Mary Sheffield.

Of course, that doesn't include dark money that goes to Political Action Committees, which do not have to disclose their donors.

Sheffield donors can be found in Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Most of Sheffield’s donations came from outside Detroit.
