WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man was shot and killed Saturday morning after police said he approached a man's home armed with a gun during a dispute.

The Winston-Salem Police Department said Hayes Godfrey Miller, 54, confronted the man, whom he had an ongoing dispute with, outside the man’s residence in the 3200 block of Zuider Zee Drive around 10:17 a.m. According to investigators, Miller acted in a threatening manner while holding a firearm, and the resident shot him.

Officers arrived to find Miller on the ground with gunshot wounds and administered aid until EMS transported him to a hospital, where he later died.
