SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Notre Dame Fighting Irish find themselves among the top 10 teams in the country after the Associated Press released its preseason college football Top 25 poll on Monday afternoon.

The Fighting Irish came in ranked at No. 6, marking the third time in the last four years they’ve been in the preseason top 10.

This first AP ranking comes after Notre Dame was ranked No. 5 in the first edition of the USA Today Coaches Poll earlier this month.

The Fighting Irish, who are coming off an appearance in the national championship game , will have a new quarterback this year. Whether it’s CJ Carr or Kenny Minchey, the two only played a combined eight snaps last season for Notre Dame.
