SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. —

The bodies of two women were found Friday afternoon near a rural road in the Rembert area of Sumter County, authorities said.

Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said while they were on their way they were told there were two bodies at the scene.

A citizen who discovered the remains met deputies upon their arrival.

The sheriff's office said they are investigating the deaths as suspicious.
