CLEVELAND, Ohio — A woman arrested outside the Cleveland Immigration Court has sued the Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies over her continued detention.

Leanny Hernandez Torrealba, 27, has been held in the Geauga County Jail since her arrest on May 27.

The lawsuit, filed last week in federal court in Cleveland, challenges Homeland Security’s new policy of issuing emergency deportation orders to speed up deportations and take cases out of the hands of immigration judges.

It accuses government officials of violating her due process rights and asks for a federal judge to order her release and allow her to continue her case in immigration court.
