COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Suspended South Carolina state Rep. RJ May has resigned nearly two months after receiving a federal indictment related to child sexual abuse material.
The South Carolina House Speaker’s Office confirmed May’s resignation on Monday.
The office also provided a copy of May’s resignation letter, which reads:
“I have decided that it is in the best interest of my family and constituents to resign immediately from the South Carolina House of Representatives. Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from the South Carolina House of Representatives. It has been an honor to serve the people of District 88.”
